Copyright Policy

akx.lol lets people put their own images, video, music and text on a public page. This policy explains what you may upload, how to report something that copies your work, what we do with a report, and how an account owner can answer one.

    Upload what is yours

    Your own work, work you have a licence for, or work that is free to use.

  • 02

    Report in a ticket

    Tell us the page, the item and the original. We remove what infringes.

  • 03

    Everyone gets a reply

    The uploader is told why, and can answer if the removal was a mistake.

1. What this covers

Everything a person can add to their page or account:

  • avatars, banners and page backgrounds, including video;
  • music tracks, cover art and lyrics;
  • bios, comments and other text;
  • templates and page files shared with other people;
  • artwork set for badges by the team.

Links are different. A link on a page points to another website; we do not host what is there. If the destination infringes your work, report it to that website. We still remove links that exist only to spread pirated material.

2. If you upload

You may upload something when at least one of these is true:

  • you made it yourself;
  • the owner gave you permission, or you hold a licence that allows publishing it online;
  • it is released for free use (for example public domain or a Creative Commons licence) and you follow that licence, including credit where it asks for it.

These do not give you the right to publish something:

  • buying a song, a game or a film, or paying for a streaming subscription;
  • finding a file through a search engine or on social media;
  • adding a credit line, or writing that no infringement is intended;
  • editing, cropping, speeding up or slowing down someone else's work.

You stay the owner of what you upload. By uploading you confirm you have the right to, and you let us store it and show it on your page. The full wording is in the Terms of Service.

3. Music and video

Music is where most copyright problems start. A commercial track normally has several owners at once (the songwriter, the performer, the label), and a personal copy does not include the right to play it to the public from a web page.

Safe choices are tracks you produced, tracks an artist gave you written permission to use, and royalty-free or Creative Commons music used under its licence.

The same applies to video backgrounds and banners: clips from films, series, anime and other people's edits belong to someone. Lyrics are protected too, including synced lyric files.

4. Reporting infringement

If your work is on a page without your permission, open a ticket in our Discord server and choose Report a user. Include:

  • the address of the page, and which item on it copies your work (avatar, background, a track by name, and so on);
  • what the original work is and where we can see or hear it, such as a link to where you published it;
  • a statement that you own the rights or are allowed to act for the owner;
  • a statement that the information in your report is accurate;
  • your name and a way to reach you.

Reports must come from the owner of the work or someone acting for them. If you spot a page using another creator's work, the most useful thing is to let that creator know.

5. What happens after a report

  • A member of the team reads the report and looks at the page.
  • If something is missing we ask you for it in the same ticket.
  • If the report is valid we remove or disable the item. The rest of the page stays online.
  • The account owner is told what was removed and why.
  • You get an answer in your ticket either way.

We do not hand your contact details to the account owner unless you ask us to, or the law requires it.

6. If your content was removed

If you believe the removal was a mistake (you made the work, you hold a licence, or the report described something else), open a ticket and tell us:

  • which item was removed and from which page;
  • why you have the right to use it, with proof where you have it: project files, a licence, a message from the owner;
  • a statement that what you are telling us is accurate.

We look at both sides. When the proof holds up the item is restored. When two people both claim the same work and we cannot tell who is right, the item stays down until they settle it between them.

7. Repeat infringement

A first valid report normally ends with the item removed and a warning. Accounts that keep uploading infringing content are suspended, and uploads may be switched off for an account before that.

An account can be suspended straight away when the infringement is deliberate and large, for example a page built to hand out pirated material. Premium or Booster status does not change any of this, and a suspension for infringement is not a reason for a refund.

8. False reports

A copyright report is a serious statement. Do not use one to take down a page you dislike, to settle an argument, or to claim work that is not yours. Accounts that file reports they know to be false can be suspended, and you may be legally responsible for the damage a false report causes.

9. akx.lol's own work

The akx.lol name and logo, the design of the site, its built-in badges, effects and demo music belong to us. You are welcome to link to the site and show your own page anywhere. Please do not copy the site's design or artwork into another product, or present your project as being run by us.

10. Contact

Copyright reports, appeals and questions about this policy all go through a ticket in our Discord server. Other rules for using the site are in the Terms of Service; how we handle personal data is in the Privacy Policy.
